A major search has been launched after a man was believed to have been swept off rocks.

UK Coastguard is coordinating the search after receiving a 999 call reporting that a man had been swept off rocks into the sea at Mwnt in West Wales on Sunday afternoon.

Milford Haven Coastguard requested the RNLI lifeboats from Cardigan and New Quay and sent the Coastguard rescue helicopter from St Athan and Coastguard rescue teams from Gwbert, Cardigan and Moylegrove to search the area.

It was reported to the Coastguard that two men had been walking when they were cut off by the tide and one of the men fell into the sea from rocks.

The search continues for one missing man.
