Fishguard Sports AFC's Matthew Minty Lamb showed his toughness and determination to see a challenge through last Friday, as he raised a four-figure sum for Children in Need.
To raise funds Minty walked a distance of over 45 miles; from County Hall to St Davids, on to Fishguard and then back to County Hall.
Despite suffering from flu symptoms Minty started out at midnight last Thursday. He was accompanied by three worthy walking partners; Huw Thomas, Alistair Birch and Charlie Blythe.
During the course of the walk he climbed a total of hills higher than Snowdon, often hiking on soaking wet, rough grass verges with cold winds, heavy showers and the odd hailstone.
"The biggest challenges came at places like Newgale, where it was very windy and as we came down the hill we could see the climb back up on the other side - it was not a pretty sight," said Minty.
"Approaching Scleddau it was hard to decide which was hurting most; my wet feet, my calves or knees."
These testing moments were countered by the enthusiastic encouragement he received from cheering children from Fishguard's Holy Name School and Wolfscastle School.
Minty arrived back at County Hall at 3.55pm on Children in Need day.
"Arriving at County Hall was a moving moment and a terrific relief that I hadn't let all my supporters down," he said. "I am delighted to be able to help Children in Need with a cheque for over £1,200."
