Swashbuckling pirates, stunning sets, outrageous double entendre and sell-out shows characterised this year's FADDS pantomime at Fishguard's Theatr Gwaun.

Treasure Island, presented by Fishguard and District Drama Society (FADDS), followed the madcap adventures of Henrietta Hawkins, landlady of the Benbow Inn, Lowertown, and her son Jim as they tried to get their hands on the treasure of Captain Flint.

Accompanied by a nervy doctor, an overbearing squire and a ship filled with a curious crew and brutish buccaneers they eventually get to Treasure Island. There, among vegetarian cannibals, a crazy cast away and a six foot pink rabbit named Roger they eventually discover the booty.

Packed with panto staples such as the obligatory sing-along, custard pie gags, audience soaking and sweetie throwing the FADDS panto has gone from strength to strength. It is now a must-see on the Fishguard entertainment calendar and this year had an audience of around 1000 people.

The 46-strong cast and crew, aged from six to 76 really gave it their all, with special mention having to go to Allan Cresswell's flamboyant dame, Gethin Morris' menacing Long John Silver and Owen Lucas who stayed in character every single second as Dr Livesey.

Credit must also be given to Melissa Pettitt for her spectacular set, Jini Williams for her props and puppets, Linda Ogilvie-Davis for the costumes and to the eye catching UV scene.

"I'm pleased with how it went," said director Jenny Andrews. "It was good fun and we all got on well. It's a nice community thing to do. A big thank you to Theatr Gwaun."
