A road has been closed following the discovery of what is believed to have been a hand grenade this morning.
Ferry Road in Pennar is currently cordoned off following the discovery at Pennar beach.
Dog walker Helen Rees was out with her dog Timmy when she discovered the grenade and reporting the find to the police.
Mrs Rees, who lives in Neyland told the Western Telegraph: “Just by chance I decided to walk my dog somewhere different for a change and because of the very low tides, I went to Pennar.
“I wasn’t one hundred per cent sure but you never know with children and so on around, so I took some pictures and reported it to the police.
"They told me it was an undesignated grenade.”
Three police officers have cordoned off the scene.
More to follow.
