A defendant who slit his own throat in the dock at Haverfordwest magistrates court has admitted taking a knife into the court.

Thirty three year-old Lukasz Robert Pawlowski ‘frantically jabbed’ at his neck as he awaited sentencing for sexual assault on January 11.

Pawlowski, from Pembroke Dock, had earlier admitted sexually assaulting a shop worker and was stood in the dock when he asked to go to the toilet.

Shortly after returning to the court he was seen to cut at his own throat and suffered serious injuries.

Today (Monday) Pawlowski admitted possessing a knife and had his case at Swansea Crown Court adjourned for sentence until March 6.

Judge Paul Thomas told the court a report was needed before sentencing and Pawlowski was remanded into custody until the next hearing.

Pawlowski had been re-arrested at Morriston Hosptial, Swansea, following the incident.

Judge Thomas said: "I don't want you to spend any more time in custody than you have to. But I can't make any promises."
