An ‘immature’ Haverfordwest man threatened an embarrassed teenager in an attempt to gain pictures of her in her underwear, a court has heard.

William Taylor Rowe, 22, of Gerald Road, appeared before local magistrates for sentencing on Monday.

He had previously pleaded guilty to sending a threatening Facebook message, to cause distress or anxiety, on May 7, 2015, and making seven indecent pseudo-photographs of a child.

The court head that a teenager from Norfolk had been talked into sending a man a picture of herself in her underwear which Rowe later found online.

He contacted the girl and started messaging her, and asked her for an updated picture of her breasts, stating that otherwise he would send the original image to all her contacts.

Jonathan Webb, defending, said only three messages were sent, with the third apologising and offering her the link to the picture, which took away any threat.

He said: “William Rowe very, very stupidly, when he was much younger, thought it would be a good idea to ask this girl for some pictures, clearly it was not, and clearly it was stupid.

“It shows a lack of understanding and immaturity.”

“I highly suspect that this will be the first and the last time he is in court. It’s a one off.”

Mr Webb added that Rowe, a full-time carer, had been ordered to register as a sex offender after his last hearing, which would have an ‘extreme and long lasting effect on his life’.

He said: “He happened across these images and thought it would be funny to message the girl in the way that he did.”

Magistrates imposed a two year community order with a 15 day rehabilitation activity requirement, and fined him £120.

He was also ordered to pay £170 in court costs and charges.
