Fishguard’s Theatre Gwaun is screening some sumptuous ballet over the next few months, with encore performance opening up the beauty of the Royal Ballet to the wider community.

The Royal Ballet’s Jewels was screened live from the Royal Opera House on Tuesday but if you missed do not fear, the theatre is holding an encore performance to make the productions available to a wider audience today, Saturday, April 15 at 3pm.

Jewels is described as a love letter to ballet, told through the shimmering beauty of Emeralds, Rubies and Diamonds.

Inspired by the beauty of the gem stones twinkling in the shop window of jewellers Van Cleef & Arpels in New York , American choreographer George Balanchine went on to make history with Jewels as the first three - act abstract ballet. First performed in full by The Royal Ballet in 2007, each of the three movements represents a unique stage in the development of classical ballet with a different stone for its inspiration and a different composer for the music.

The encore screening is at 3pm on Saturday, April 15. If you are part of a local dance school and interested in attending please contact the theatre on info@theatrgwaun.com for special dance school offer.
