THERE'S going to be a great buzz at next week's Narberth Carnival as the glamorous Queen Bee and her swarm of workers join in the parade.

And everyone has a chance to 'bee' a creative part of the action by joining in free pre-event workshops being organised by Span Arts.

The organisation's Cheerful Project is seeking help to create a throng of humming bees who will be the Queen Bee's entourage as she marches along in the carnival procession on Saturday July 29.

The event, which starts at 2pm, is on the final day of Narberth Civic Week, which gets underway on Sunday (July 22).

There are three drop-in bee-making workshops in the next few days - at Clarbeston Road Hall tomorrow (Saturday), the Queens Hall, Narberth on Monday and Maenclochog Hall on Wednesday.

Adults and accompanied children over eight years of age are welcome at any time between 10am and 4pm on all the days.

The bee theme has been chosen by Span to help raise awareness to the decline of bees around the world.

Said Georgia Jones from Span Arts: "Bees and other pollinating insects play an essential role in our eco-systems - a third of all our food depends on their pollination.

"A world without pollinators would be devastating for food production and could cause a global crisis."
