THE 11th annual Haverfordwest Beer and Cider Festival is fast approaching, and it’s going to be a good one.

The family-friendly event will take place at Haverfordwest Castle over the August bank holiday weekend (Friday, August 25, to Sunday, August 27), with more than 3,000 visitors expected.

Drinkers will have 36 beers to choose from, all made in Wales, plus a fantastic variety of ciders, including event regulars Gethin’s Pembrokeshire Cyder.

Da Mhile distillery will also be debuting their new cucumber vodka, alongside their firm favourites of gin and tonic or, for the adventurous, gin and prosecco.

To soak up the booze, Sam's Meat Roasts will be bringing a hog roast, and Torch y Tir will be serving up delicious fresh pizzas.

On offer to younger visitors (or the young at heart), there will be face painting between 1pm and 3pm on Saturday and Sunday, as well as crafts between 3pm and 5pm, and a petting zoo on Sunday - all free.

Alongside all this, there will be live music, with festival newcomers Wolf 359, Doc and the Headshrinkers, and festival favourites the Chalk Outlines, plus many more.

Entry is £5, which includes a souvenir glass, and a programme with detailed tasting notes.

Check out the Facebook page for details of weekend passes, and updates and competitions in the run-up to the big weekend.

"The festival is run on a shoestring, and powered by the goodwill of local businesses and the hard work of a team of dedicated volunteers, and we're looking forward to welcoming you to our 11th year of this fabulous community event," said Lauren Blacklaw-Jones, volunteer coordinator.
