Hundreds of indecent images were found on a Milford Haven man’s computers, a court has heard.

Ian Peters, 47, of Yorke Street, Milford Haven, pleaded guilty to downloading indecent images or pseudo-photographs of children at an earlier hearing, and sentencing had been adjourned for a report to be completed.

Megan Gilchrist, prosecuting, told Haverfordwest magistrates court on Wednesday that a search warrant was executed at Peters’ home on March 16 and he was arrested on suspicion of possessing and distributing indecent images of children.

Two laptops were seized from his bedside cabinet, which were both found to contain 269 Category C indecent images of children.

A further 174 images featuring females who were borderline adult age were also discovered.

Peters admitted to officers that he got sexual gratification from looking at the images, and would search the internet for erotic stories about adult males abusing young girls.

Miss Gilchrist said: “He said he was attracted to young girls, but did not act on it.”

The court heard that Peters had previous convictions for similar offences, and had already completed a sexual offenders’ programme in the past.

Edna MacDonald of the probation service told magistrates that she had ‘several disagreements about the seriousness of his behaviour’ while interviewing Peters.

She added that she had concerns about him and he had learnt ‘very little’ from his previous experience on the programme.

She said: “He could not give me adequate reasoning behind it. Only to say that he does like children, but has never been hands on.

“He says he desperately wants help to understand why he is doing what he is doing.”

The court heard that Peters was reluctant to give up his computer, as he used it for gaming.

Magistrates decided to send the case to Swansea crown court for sentencing on September 29, and Peters was released on unconditional bail until that date.
