THE mayor of Pembroke, Cllr David Boswell, appeared at Haverfordwest magistrates court charged with historic sex offences today (Tuesday).

Cllr Boswell, who is also the County Councillor for Pembroke St Mary North, is facing six charges of indecently assaulting two girls under the age of 14, dating back to the 1990s.

He also faces an allegation of raping a girl under the age of 16. That charge again relates to the 1990s.

This was due to be the first appearance in court for the 57 year-old.

Cllr Boswell has stepped aside from his role of mayor following the charges.

The case was sent to Swansea Crown Court and a hearing will be held on October 13.

He released on uncondtional bail.
