A TRIO of local locations have been named as amongst the best places to live in Britain.

Today's Sunday Times features just 10 Welsh towns or villages in its UK-wide listing.

Saundersfoot, St Davids and Laugharne are all included in the list, which puts Swansea's Mumbles the best place to live in Wales.

Narberth and Cardigan, which made the Sunday Times' Welsh top 10 in 2017, are not featured this year.

The newspaper's Best Places to Live guide assesses a wide range of factors - from jobs, schools and broadband speed to culture, community spirit and local shops - in order to compile the definitive top locations to live.

The Sunday Times' expert panel members also contribute their own on-the-ground experience and insight to the compilation of the list.

The list gives a guide to house prices, with St Davids coming in as one of the least expensive in the starter home bracket with an average price of £125,000 as against £159,130 in Saundersfoot and £134,950 in Laugharne.

Family homes have an average price of £418,540 in Saundersfoot; £393,340 in St Davids and £309,920 in Laugharne.

Said the Sunday Times Home editor Helen Davies: "Britain is scattered with thriving towns and villages, cool cities and suburbs, though people may be surprised how many traditional favourites haven't made the cut in 2018."
