A REWARD is being offered after Pennar’s community hall was vandalised yet again this afternoon, March 17.

It is estimated some £2,000 worth of damage was caused to the hall, which has previously suffered at the hands of vandals.

The damage includes one window, cladding and two lights.

Milford Mercury:

Posting on Facebook, Pennar Hall stated: “Cash reward! For anyone who can identify who has vandalised your community hall. Residents of Pennar and Bufferland please help the committee to find out who did this to Pennar Hall. Approx £2,000 worth of damage.”

Milford Mercury:

The group also posted: “OMG what is the point - the hall has only just done that wall," later adding: “£2k's of our hard-earned money down the drain! We need names.”

Milford Mercury:

The hall was targeted back in 2015, when some £250 worth of damage was caused when two double-glazed windows were smashed at the hall.

This time damage has been caused to walling and windows.

It is believed the damage was caused by thrown bricks.

Pennar Community Hall Chairman Councillor Tony Wilcox said: “There’s been a spate of it in Pennar; we’ve had a few little spates over the years, but this is the worst; it’s just a kick in the teeth again.

“It is a sign of the times; that money we would’ve used to do the toilets will now have to be spent putting it right.

“It certainly won’t deter us improving the hall; the hall is well used, we’re not destitute by any means but it’s money that could’ve been spent elsewhere.”

He added: “We put the reward up, which will be completely anonymous; it will be paid as long as whoever phones convinces the police.”

The nearby Scout hall was also hit by vandalism recently, with stones thrown at the building, and greenhouse damaged, and empty bottle of alcohol left behind.
