POLICE inquiries are continuing into the death of two-year-old Kiara Moore in Cardigan on Monday.
The youngster, from Coed Y Bryn, Llandysul, who would have celebrated her third birthday next week, was pulled from a car in the River Teifi at the Strand at around 5pm. She was airlifted to hospital in Cardiff but passed away.
Police also confirmed they are looking into malicious comments posted on social media in relation to the incident.
A statement released by Dyfed Powys Police this morning (Wednesday, March 21) said: “Enquiries are continuing to fully understand the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
“Examination of the vehicle will form part of these enquiries. We can also confirm that the vehicle had not been stolen.
“We are aware of potentially malicious comments relating to the incident on social media. These are being reviewed and action may be taken where appropriate.”
An inquest into Kiara's death was today opened and adjourned to a date to be fixed by Ceredigion coroner Peter Brunton.
