HAVERHUB is bringing Easter fun and crafts to town for its art and duck race event in collaboration with a brand new canoe business on the river.

The community hub in Haverfordwest’s Old Post Office be hosting the event on Saturday, March 31 in collaboration with canoeing business Paddle West.

Crafts start are between 11.30am and 2pm in the Old Post Office and the duck race is at 2.30pm on the river.

“Our Double Duck Race from the old bridge helps fundraise to keep the HaverHub project going while building work is planned and capital grants are secured, and offers social fun for the town at the same time,” said Gitti Coats, HaverHub project co-ordinator.

The HaverHub events team have been busy planning duck related fun with kiddies crafts, games and lunch time food and drink at the Old Post Office yard and sorting office in Quay street.

“Bringing children to town where they can make things for Easter, have games and then all go over to the bridge for the duck races, shows our county town is coming back to life as a fun place for families” said Cheryl Ace, Events Director.

There’s a small charge for craft materials in the yard.

Ducks and deluxe ducks will be for sale at the Bridge from 10am on the day and ducks can be bought to support HaverHub even if you can’t be there – by logging onto haverhub.org.uk/events or looking for the Facebook event ‘HaverHub Duck Race’.

Entries close midnight on Friday.

Ducks £1 for main race with cash prizes, or £5 for a limited number of deluxe ducks with local prizes from town centre sponsors – El Sabor meal for two, Tussie Mussie large bouquet of flowers, CJ Salon in Market Street and Sam’s Hair studio in Withybush giving haircuts, and a full set of nails from Lauren Smith’s Beauty Box.

The deluxe prizes come from Pretty Sweet in Quay Street who are giving away a Stunt Scooter, and Paddle West – a canoe session up the river!

HaverHub is delighted to be working with Paddle West – a start-up that will bring canoes back onto the river for visitors, locals and tourists.

Sam Booth and his team will be based at HaverHub to start their business, and are helping fish out the ducks on the day.
