A MAN who grabbed £170 from a Tenby shop till just two days after stealing a jacket in the town was jailed yesterday, August 15, for 32 weeks.

Daniel David Luker, aged 36, had been arrested and bailed by police after he was caught on a CCTV camera stealing a £54 jacket from the Jago store in the town’s Tudor Square.

Just two days later he walked into the town's Londis store and snatched £170 in cash from a till.

Luker, of Marlborough Road, Cardiff, admitted both thefts.

Swansea crown court heard how staff at the Jago store showed police the CCTV images and they soon spotted Luker, who claimed to have carried out the theft as a bet.

Two days later he was again caught on a CCTV camera, this time inside the Londis store where a shop assistant could be seen struggling to prevent him from grabbing the money.

The court heard that Luker had been under a suspended prison sentence at the time of the offences.

Judge Keith Thomas told Luker he had been given a chance by the court that suspended the previous sentence, but he had not taken it.

Judge Thomas jailed him for 24 weeks and activated an additional eight weeks of the suspended sentence.
