Shopping for ice-lollies ended with an assault and a melee involving two women in a shop doorway.

Cara Parsley, of Winch Crescent, Haverfordwest, pleaded guilty to assault when she appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday, August 7.

Vaughan Pritchard-Jones, prosecuting, told the court that there was an unsavoury incident in a shop entrance in St Thomas Green, Haverfordwest, at 5.30pm on March 25.

Complainant Josie D’Alberti went to the shop to buy ice-lollies when words were exchanged between the pair, who had a history of animosity.

Parsley was captured on CCTV putting her arms up and attempting to strike Miss D’Alberti.

Mr Pritchard-Jones said: “It quickly ends. Miss D’Alberti then unwisely, but perhaps understandably, goes to have a go at Miss Parsley. But that’s hands flailing in the air, no specific blows landed.

“The boyfriends intervene and they go their separate ways. The initial conflict was started by Miss Parsley.”

The court heard that Parsley, 26, had previous convictions for assault.

Jonathan Webb, defending, said: “There is a history there. It’s very childish at worse, adolescent at best.”

Mr Webb added that Miss D’Alberti had ‘turned against’ single mother Parsley on social media and made insinuations about her.

“There were clearly some verbals, very unwisely Miss Parsley went for her. It was all flailing arms and a bit of a melee. It happened in seconds.

“We accept being the aggressor in the first instance.”

The bench heard that no children were present during the incident, and the only injury was to Parsley who was caught by Miss D’Alberti’s nails.

Magistrates imposed a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered Parsley to pay £85 costs and a £20 surcharge.
