SOLAR panels could be installed at three water treatments plants in Pembrokeshire, according to plans received by Pembrokeshire County Council.
Johnston Sewage Treatment Works, Hook Sewage Treatment Works and Bolton Hill Water Treatment Works are all managed by Dwr Cymru Welsh Water.
The water supply company has applied to Pembrokeshire County Council to install a solar array at each of these sites, in a drive to generate more of its own energy on site.
Dwr Cymru Welsh Water has committed itself to becoming “a truly world class, resilient and sustainable water service for the benefit of future generations” in a manifesto called the Welsh Water 2050 Document.
The company aims to generate 30 per cent of its energy needs by 2020, including installing solar arrays.
The county council has sent out invitations to community councils and other organisations, asking them to give their opinion on the plans.
