Hat-trick for Jonah
10:00am Friday 22nd March 2013 in Sport
Pennar Robins 1
Hakin United 4
Paul Jones scored a brilliant hat-trick to earn redhot title favourites Hakin United victory against Pennar Robins at Bush Camp.
The veteran striker showed he still has goals left in him at the top flight. The visitors scored with only five minutes on the clock. Jonty Bennett’s goal bound shot was parried by keeper Stuart James, only for Jonah to bury the rebound.
On the half hour mark and Jonah added his second goal of the game. A through ball from Ashley Bevan released the deadly poacher, rounding the keeper and slotting home.
Ten minutes after half time and the Vikings added a third goal. Steve Mathias cross was met by a stinging header by Jonty Bennett.
Two minutes later and Jonah completed his hattrick.
Another through ball caught the Pennar defence square, and Jonah kept his composure to slot past the advancing James.
The Vikings were reduced to ten men when Stephen Hartley was sent off. The keeper handled the ball outside the box and picked up a yellow card, but he protested to strongly and was sent off for dissent by referee Helmut Reinhardt.
Michael Cooper wore the number one jersey and he conceded ten minutes later as Luke Phillips struck for a consolation goal for the Robins who uncomfortably sit third from bottom.
