Whitland (168 for 9) drew with Lawrenny (201 for 9)
Lawrenny significantly boosted their hopes of staying in Division One as they had the better of the draw against Whitland, who were forced to hold on the tense few final deliveries as the visitors strove desperately for victory.
Lawrenny batted first and sensible contributions from Andrew Cole (35), Phil Cole (45), Joe Kidney (27), Steve Lewis (19) and Rob Williams (17 not out) set them up with a useful score of 201 for 9 as David Dunfee (2 for 36), Dan James (3 for 44), Scott Newton (2 for 27) and Steffan James (2 for 23) took the wickets for Whitland.
Steffan James also topped the Whitland batting with six fours in his 50 alongside Paul Davies (23), Jonathan Thomas (29) and Scott Newton (18) but they lost wickets at regular intervals to Williams (1 for 48), Brad McDermott-Jenkins (4 for 32), Steve Lewis (3 for 29) and Phil Cole (1 for 51). Mark Lee and Dan James were able to hold out in the final over, though, to give their side a draw in an entertaining tussle.
