JAMES Stanmore scored a goal in each half to secure an important victory for Hakin United at Johnston.
This game was billed the match of the day in division one, and it certainly lived up to its hype.
Both sides played with plenty of passion in a hotly contested derby clash between the West Wales Intermediate Cup holders Johnston, and league champions Hakin United.
The visitors opened the scoring in the 25th minute. Adam Davies and Ashley Bevan combined and worked space for Stanmore to strike a low shot in the far corner.
Heavy rain fell at Glebelands in the second half, and the Vikings were put under extreme pressure by the Tigers as they searched for an equaliser.
The Vikings defence stayed strong and denied strikers Joe John and prolific goal scorer Nicky Woodrow any clear cut chances at goal.
Five minutes from full time and Stanmore lashed home his second of the match and secured his side a crucial win that puts them level on points with leaders Narberth.
