Merlins Bridge 0
THIS crucial two-goal victory over fierce rivals Merlins Bridge at The Racecourse has kept Johnston in the title hunt.
The first period was a cagey affair with both sides missing chances to break the deadlock. Wizards’ keeper Carl Woodhouse pulled off a terrific save to deny Tigers striker Joe John. Just before half time Matthew D’Ivry’s header from a corner flew over the crossbar.
On the hour mark and the visitors took the lead. Keeper Woodhouse and centre back Dai Rees collided going for the same ball inside the box, and it fell kindly for substitute Nicky Woodrow, who had only been on the pitch a few minutes, and simply tucked the ball into the empty net.
The Tigers put the result beyond doubt ten minutes from full time when skipper Chris Ormond nodded home from a corner, this win lifts the Tigers up to third in the table, just four points behind leaders Narberth, but they have played one more game.
