TWO Pembrokeshire women narrowly failed to cap off a brilliant year with a national accolade last night.
Both Jean Jones and Kelly Mayhew were finalists in the Wales Sport Awards at the Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff.
Jean was up for Coach to Disabled People of the Year for her work with disability gymnasts in Pembrokeshire, a category eventually won by Keith Rollinson of Clywedog Sailing Club in Powys.
Kelly meanwhile, was recognised for her work at Neyland Yacht Club by making the final three of Young Coach of the Year, but the award went to Sian Lewis of Neath-Afan Gymnastics Club.
Highlights of the night saw Warren Gatland pick up the Coach of the Year award while Leigh Halfpenny won the public vote to claim the BBC Cymru Wales Sports Personality of the Year accolade for 2013.
