MERLINS Bridge gained a comfortable victory over struggling Saundersfoot Sports at The Racecourse.

This was the Wizards’ seventh win of the season and they are now five points behind leaders Narberth, but have played two matches more. The Sports sit fourth from bottom and are desperate for points to steer themselves out of the relegation dogfight.

Sports goalkeeper Ben Evans had a superb game, pulling off a string of brilliant saves to deny the Wizards winning by a far bigger score line.

The hosts only led by the one goal at the interval, striker Nathan Greene headed in a corner. The Wizards put the result beyond doubt when Peter Thomas scored twice from the penalty spot in the 55th and 63rd minutes to secure the points.

Merlins Bridge: Daniel Birch, Paul Thomas, Nathan Thomas, Dave Rees, Lee Hudgell, Jordan Raymond, Peter Thomas, Dai Davies, Simon Thomas, Stephen McNabney, Nathan Greene. Subs: Matthew D’Ivry, Jonathan Sable.

Saundersfoot Sports: Ben Evans, Tom Woolford, Kevin Berry, Russell Evans, Paul Hodge, Dan Storer, Sam Coleman, Rhys Hewson, Geoff Marsh, Chris Millward. Subs: Lewis Hurlow.

Referee: Kevin Milich.
