THE January Monthly Medal sponsored by club professional Matthew Hearne scheduled for Saturday was postponed because of the very heavy rain on the Friday night and rescheduled for Sunday January 19.

There were only 38 gents who played in the January Monthly Medal played and the course was still wet, but once again it did not affect the scores with Grant Arnold hitting a nett 65 to beat Liam Eva (handicap of 3) by one shot. Liam won the best gross with an excellent gross 69.

A few changes were made to the handicaps with Grant Arnold losing two shots now playing off 19, Liam Eva down one shot from 3 to 2, Tristan Carlston from17 to 16; players going the opposite direction were Sean Conway 9 to 10, Nathan Morris 19 to 20, Steve Warlow 10 to 11.

In the twos competition the kitty was shared by seven players; each two was worth £5.42 in pro-shop credit ; Rolly Council, Gareth Fairburn, Ivor Mckenzie, Phil Davies, Alan Dennison, Lea Nicholas, Steve Warlow.

This Saturday is round seven of the winter league will be played with round eight on Saturday, February 1 and the final round will be played on Saturday 8 before the matchplay knock out stages which will commence on Saturday, February 22.

Seniors

LAST Thursday the senior section played a stableford competition where 19 players took part.

The course was still very wet in places and the greens in good condition for the time of year; considering the amount of rain that has fallen in the last eight weeks.

Despite the wet the course did not affect the scores with one incredible score of 43 points by John Clark winning the competition by a clear six points; which meant a handicap cut of two shots; John will now play off a handicap of 19.

Next seniors’ competition will be a stableford and will be played on today (Thursday) with the first draw at 10.30am.

South West Pembs Golf Alliance

THE January meeting for the South West Pembs Golf Alliance will be held at South Pembs Golf Club on Thursday, January 30 and this competition is open to full male members of Haverfordwest, Milford Haven, St David’s City, Tenby Golf Clubs and the host club. Milford Haven Golf Club will be hosting the February meeting which will be played on Thursday 27 with Haverfordwest Golf Club hosting the March meeting on Thursday 27.

After a recent meeting the golf alliance meetings 2014/2015; will be played on Fridays this hopefully will encourage more players to play knowing that they have no work the following morning. More details to follow at a later time and this will also fall in line with some golfers who have every other Friday off.
