FORMER Whitland product Scott Williams grabbed a cracking first half try in Wales’ 25-13 victory in their opening Six Nations defence on Saturday.

Just before the break Wales moved the ball swiftly along the back line from left to right only for Jamie Roberts to punch a hole in the Azzurri defence and co-centre Williams profited to dive over near the posts and gave his side a rather flattering 17-3 half time lead.

All the talk this week is whether Williams will keep his place in the team that plays in Ireland, or will Warren Gatland bravely select another former Whitland man in the form of Jonathan Davies who played 40 minutes for the Scarlets at the weekend.

Wales will definitely have to up their game if they are going to win at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin as Ireland top the table after a convincing 28-6 win at home against Scotland.
