St Clears 5

Hundleton 2

STEVE Thomas claimed a brilliant hat-trick to secure St Clears’ easy passage in the Senior Cup quarter-final at the expense of Hundleton.

Both teams drew in the last cup-tie and in this replay The Saints marched to victory and their reward is a home tie against the current holders Johnston at home this Saturday.

Thomas opened the scoring in the seventh minute, the striker found the top corner from a tight angle. Danny Peters powered home a header at a corner for the second goal in the 15th minute.

On the half hour mark Nick Squire slipped the ball past stand-in goalkeeper Jamie Stanley before Geraint Lewis replied for the visitors who trailed 3-1 at half time.

Five minutes after the interval and Thomas added the fourth with a stinging left foot finish, on the hour mark Thomas completed his treble when he got on the end of Sean Seymour Davies’ cross in the box.

Lewis scored his second goal of the tie for the visitors in the 73rd minute, but by that time the damage had already been well and truly done as The Saints go marching on.
