Narberth 2

West Dragons 1

NARBERTH kept their title dreams alive with a slender 2-1 victory at home against determined West Dragons.

Dorian Davies hit a post early for the Bluebirds, but in the 20th minute they broke the deadlock. Tony Evans set up Ashley Evans who beat Dan Birch at his near post. Jonny Horgan struck a rising shot over the crossbar for the visitors.

Player boss Matthew Price was unlucky not to double the hosts’ lead as struck Birch’s right-hand post, and then Birch pulled off a cracking stop to deny Dorian Davies.

As this clash ebbed from end-to-end Scott Crawford had a header cleared off the line by Bluebirds defender Richard Henton, and John Durbridge pulled off a good save to deny Crawford.

In the 78th minute the Bluebirds were awarded a penalty as Price was brought down in the box by Ian Harries. Tony Evans kept his composure to find the bottom corner and gave his side a two-goal cushion. The Dragons pulled one back as Crawford nodded in for a consolation goal in injury time.
