A FORMER Haverfordwest RFC second row is celebrating his 60th birthday with a charity golf day next month.

Denzil Davies played for the Blues back in the late 1970s and 80s and was part of a league winning and Pembrokeshire Knockout Cup winning team.

Four years ago he suffered a brain (subarachnoid) haemorrhage and he owes his life to the Wales Air Ambulance and hospital staff at the Heath, Caridiff.

He is busy organising the event that will take place at Haverfordwest Golf Club on Friday July 4.

It is £100 to enter a team of four to play a texas scramble format. Open to both men and women and that includes a round of golf and a hot meal. All players must have a competition handicap to win prizes. Donations for raffle prizes can be left with bar staff or the club secretary at the clubhouse.
