Johnston (245 for 5) beat Pembroke (155 all out) by 90 runs

LEE Summons was the undoubted star of Johnston’s big win over Pembroke in a top-five battle between two teams with aspirations towards promotion, scoring a massive 145 not out which included some massive hitting, and following it up with a 3 for 7 haul from his medium pacers.

Summons has been in a rich vein of batting form and he continued his run glut with an amazing ten sixes alongside 12 fours that left him unbeaten on 145 at the close of the Johnston innings. He shared a stand of 103 with his father John, who scored 24, with another useful knock by Dan Sutton (superbly caught by Paul White for 41) as the other major run-maker.

Jonathan Rogers (2 for 53), Rob Weston (1 for 54) and Sean Powell (1 for 85 as he faced Summons Jnr at his most powerful) were the Pembroke wicket-takers as they really chased leather in the final stages.

Skipper Powell (25), Jonathan Rogers (21), Barry Evans (20), Phil Hay (20) and Jack Harries all enjoyed cameos but no-one was able to stay very long against Lee Summons, Simon Williams (2 for 18), Steve Mills (2 for 23), Gary James (1 for 33), Steve Jenkins (1 for 20) and Rhys Dalling (1 for 20) as Johnston made a concerted push to the top of the section table.
