A SUNNY day with an awkward wind greeted the field of 74 gents competing for the Under 50s and Veterans Trophy on Saturday. This was a stableford competition bringing welcome relief from the recent spate of medal events.

Once again there was some exceptional scoring as Scott Griffiths won with a sensational 47 points and strode away with the Under 50s prize with Liam Fawcett bagging 42 points off his new handicap into second place.

Richard Brock showed his class in the unfortunately named Veterans category winning with 43 points followed by the evergreen Atlantic voyager Peter Ryder with 39 points.
