Carew (246 for 4) beat Whitland (93 all out) by 151 runs
CAREW showed their true class after some disappointing results in league and cups as they slammed Whitland by 151 runs to pick up maximum bonus points.
Leading the way for Carew in the batting stakes were Nick Scourfield (74) and Tom Davies (53) who shared in a second-wicket partnership of 93 before Simon Wood showed what an asset he is with 43 not out in conjunction with Tim Hicks (18), Brian Hall (17) and Rhys Davies (11 not out). They helped the home side to a very big total as Dan James (2 for 46), Mark Lee (1 for 51) and Raff Williams (1 for 46) were the Whitland wicket-takers.
Owain Evans topped the Whitland batting chart with 38 runs as Paul Davies (19) and Dan James (12 not out) were the only other batsmen to manage double figures against fast bowler Ian Forrester (5 for 26), a new recruit from the army camp at Manorbier, and Wood, who completed a man of the match performance with 4 for 22 in support.
Umpires: Dave Brandon & Peter Perry.
Scorers: Julie Davies & Janice Webb.
