Narberth (176 for 9) beat St Ishmaels (170 for 7) by one wicket

BRYNLEY Toms was the toast of his Narberth team-mates after he came to the crease as their last man with Narberth needing just one run to win and after playing out three dot balls he lashed a big six that meant his side won by just one wicket in an absorbing tussle.

Peter Bradshaw again formed the backbone of the Tish innings as he top scored with 66 (seven fours and two sixes), sharing in a productive stand of 81 with Phil Cockburn (three fours and two sixes in his 46 not out) before Tish finally settled on a respectable tally of 170 for 7 as Andrew Williams also chipped in with 19 against the bowling of Ian Hughes (1 for 37), Matthew Johns (2 for 17) and Kyle Quartermaine (1 for 37).

Marc Hughes (30) and Mike Scale (23) ensured Narberth had a decent start to their response before Kyle Quartermaine lashed an important 52 that included five fours and four big sixes.

But Matthew Phillips (3 for 45) and Andrew Pawlett (3 for 28) kept plugging away alongside Andrew Williams (1 for 46) and Robbie Thomas (2 for 21) to keep Tish in touch, despite 19 from Aaron Keane.

Narberth drew level from a no-ball before Toms sought out the winning run, which he did in style, to the evident delight of the Narberth players and supporters.
