ORGANISERS of Ironman Wales have confirmed that celebrity TV chef Gordon Ramsay has withdrawn from next weekend's event in Tenby.

The 47-year-old, who competed in his first Ironman World Championship triathlon in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, last October, pulled out after picking up an achilles injury in training.

Only last week, Ramsay had stated how much he was looking forward the challenge in Pembrokeshire.

"Having spent many a family summer holiday in Tenby growing up, I am really looking forward to being back there”, he said.

He is yet to comment on his withdrawal.
