IT’S been a brilliant summer season for crack shot Ben Llewellin.

Ben, of Rudbaxton, Haverfordwest, was crowned British junior Olympic skeet clay pigeon shooting champion, held at the home international event in Dungannon, Northern Ireland last month.

Ben tied on score for the top place with English shot Jack Fairclough, so had to shoot off in a tense and exciting sudden death final, where Ben shot first and didn't miss any targets giving him the British title.

Last week, Ben returned from shooting in the World Championships in Granada, Spain. He was representing Team GB with two other English juniors. Ben shot a personal best of 120 out of 125, which placed him, fourth out of 63 juniors from 21 countries.

The other two British juniors shot a 116 and a 111; the combined score gave this junior GB team the bronze medal, being beaten by the Italian team for gold and USA silver. Ben’s score was second best from the whole Team GB squad and has put him in a good position to progress into the senior team next year.

Ben has also competed in the recent Woodpecker stages rally in the Braces Bread historic mark II escort. The event based in Ludlow attracted a full entry of 160 cars. Ben was competing in the historic car section of the rally and after a very slippery and tricky start to the event he set the fastest time on three final stages to claim third overall.
