Seniors

LAST Thursday, 21 brave seniors took part in the fourth turkey trot non counting stableford competition of the winter prior to the seniors Christmas dinner and presentation.

On a very windy day with rain expected which should have seen forty four seniors play this was drastically reduced because of the conditions and fortunately for those who played the rain stayed away. The weather did not seem to make any difference to Bert Jones playing off a handicap of 18 carded an excellent 40 points to win by two points from seniors’ captain Martyn Price with Russell James a further point adrift.

Bert received a meat voucher of £15; with Martyn getting a voucher for £10 and Russell a £5 voucher.

(This is always a fun held tournament where ladies submit cards played over 9 holes during the months of November/December). However, they were able to go ahead and enjoy their annual 'mince pie' get together in the clubhouse where the Lady Captain Pat Evans carried out the last presentations of the golfing year and a lovely social afternoon was enjoyed by all the ladies. The overall winner of the Joan Gale Competition was Sylvia Rees, with second place going to Margaret Hicks, and third place to Pat Evans.
