LUKE Hayward’s second half penalty secured a slender derby victory for Merlins Bridge over West Dragons at the Racecourse.
Merlins Bridge skipper Stephen McNabney’s deflected shot gave the Wizards the lead, but the Dragons hit back with goal by Jordan Thomas, the centre back had earlier struck the crossbar with a header at a corner.
Both teams missed scoring chances, but Hayward, kept his cool under pressure to secure the precious points as the midfielder made no mistake with his spot-kick, this result keeps the Wizards in the title race, five points behind leaders The Vikings.
