It's been quite a week for Scarlets front row forward Rob Evans, at the weekend, he scored his first try for the region at Leicester Tigers, and he has also been selected in Warren Gatland's 34-man Wales squad for the 2015 Six Nations.

Hello. Hope you've all had a good week and been careful on these Pembrokeshire roads, there's definitely been some icy mornings.

My week has been quite short but a tough one all the same, after losing to Glasgow last weekend there was a hard review session to get through on Monday and it was a painful one.

After putting that loss to bed we had to pick ourselves up going into a different competition, the European Rugby Champions Cup and we had a big task to face with Leicester Tigers waiting for us at Welford Road on Friday evening.

We went into training, and if you didn't know we have been struggling with a number of injuries to our squad, missing a few key members in big positions. And if we didn't have enough injuries as it was we ended up losing Michael Tagicakibau and Gareth Davies in training both pulling up to make matters a little bit worse for us!

We battled on and travelled up to Leicester on Thursday afternoon. We got there and it was just the same as here (back west) absolutely freezing! Anyway we arrived at the famously intimidating Welford Road on the Friday evening and there was a positive atmosphere within the camp.

We started off the game a little bit slower than we wanted and Tigers punished us by scoring two tries within the first 20 minutes, from there we started to crawl our way back into the game and ended having a driving line out in their 22 from a penalty, we won the ball at the front and the drive started to go forward, I ended up getting my hands on the ball and saw a gap and went for the line and ended up getting over for my first try for Scarlets which was a pretty special moment for me.

It brought us back to 14-11 and ended up going in half time with the same score. We came out second half still well in the game but as it went on Leicester caught us cold and scored and shortly after that scored again. The game loosened up a bit then and we scored another couple of tries and so did they, the score ended up 40-23 which was quite a disappointing result for us but there were definitely some positives to take out of them game and to take into Toulon this Saturday.

Eventhough we are out of the competition now, we have our unbeaten home run in the competition this season to maintain – and for over a year in the PRO12 to maintain and also to give something back to the fans as they have been massive for us in this competition and couldn't have asked anymore from them.

So if you’re at a loose end on Saturday evening come up and support us in our last game in the Champions Cup for this season, I'm sure it will be a cracker.

Anyway I’ll leave you be for another week, hope you’re all well and as I said earlier stay safe in these weather conditions and take your time on the roads.

All the best for another week, Rob
