Women’s Super Cup.

Whitland Ladies 63-0 Caernarfon.

THE Borderettes were on fire to beat Caernarfon and maintain their 100% cup record.

The opening moments saw Whitland wing Mari Griffiths squeeze in at the corner.

Player of the match Elin Hywel was held up on the line before livewire flanker Natalie Walsh forced her way over.

Wales squad member Delyth Davies impressed and added her side’s third try from a midfield break.

Griffiths then outpaced the defence to score, and the first half scoring was completed by full back Cath Davies following her timely entry into the line. Three of the tries were converted by Rebecca Norris.

The visitors showed more resolve in the second half with the boot of Malen Williams relieving pressure.

However, more Whitland pressure saw Emma Summons make a blind side break and put Elin Hywel over in the corner.

Jenny Collins and Karen Mayze added impetus from the bench, and Jodie Evans crossed before Mayze broke clear to score and convert.

Angharad Williams got her name on the try sheet list after a pass from Keeley Evans, and Walsh grabbed a second from close range.

Whitland 27-12 Nant Conwy.

THE home side made the brighter start as Megan Davies darted through to open the scoring with the extras being added by Kelsey Haycocks.

Minutes later and winger Libby Jones took advantage of some quick handling to run a try in from distance.

A short penalty charge brought a try for Ceilyn Davies with two others added before the halftime whistle by Marged Williams and Nia Williams.

It would have appeared that Nant would have faced an even sterner test of their resolve in the second half but surprisingly they rallied to disrupt their hosts.

Excellent work in the tackle area by Lea Royle who won numerous turnovers was the catalyst for their revival, and a flowing attack saw the ball moved through several pairs of hands before Cerys Davies was able to cross out wide.

With spirits raised, Nant were rewarded further when Sioned Phillips intercepted and sprinted clear to score and add the conversion.

But it wasn't enough as the Young Borderettes ran out 27-12 winners.
