HAVERFORDWEST Ladies RFC pre-season training is now in full swing with their first game at home against Nantyfyllon on September 6.

This will be their third season in the WRU National League Division Two having gained promotion in their first season. Their second season saw them crowned National Bowl champions, with promotion again top of the agenda for this season.

The team has strengthened the squad over the summer with a number of graduating under 18s and new players joining the team. Nina Colville will again captain the side from the No 8 shirt with Jo Price vice-captaining from her outside half role.

Coach Gareth Charles said: “We have now got strength and depth in all positions and selection is starting to give Ben John and I sleepless nights.

“We are establishing ourselves as a club where women and juniors from the age of 12 can go and play competitive rugby in Pembrokeshire. We have former Haverfordwest under 18s and ladies player Jasmine Joyce in the Welsh sevens team currently playing in Ireland and current under 18s player Katie Thicker in the Welsh schools sevens squad, with many other players having represented the Scarlets at all age groups, so opportunities to excel whilst playing for Haverfordwest are there."

Training takes place at 7pm on a Monday and new and experienced players are always welcome. The under 15s (ages 12,13 and 14) and under 18s (ages 15,16 and 17) will start training on September 7 at 6pm on a Monday night, with new coaches helping the senior coaches of Gareth Charles and Ben John.
