Narberth 40-15 Llanharan

Narberth gave a run out to a number of local players in this convincing win over Llanharan which helped the Otters move up several places as their reward, whilst keeping the Dairy Men firmly pinned at the foot of the section table.
Ollie Reyland and Mauritz Neumann played well in the centre, Jamie Kaijaks battled hard up front alongside Ryan Banner, whilst Adam Clark, Alex Jenkins and Lewis Wood were sources of quality ball for Jonathan Rogers and Ianto Griffiths to utilise, and Johnny Morgan was a constant threat from full back.
The Otter pack established its superiority with an early penalty try from a well-controlled drive and then Morgan sliced through to the posts for Griffiths to convert both scores with ease, as he did when hooker Dan Smith received the loudest cheer of the day after scampering 20 metres from a maul.
Llanharan managed a penalty by scrum half Nicky Theaker, who also converted a try by centre Sam Edwards after a clever chip down the touchline by winger Morgan Williams – but at 21-10 the Otters already looked assured of victory at half time.
A second penalty try assured Narberth of a bonus point and others came from replacement flanker Pat Roberts and a second for the ubiquitous Morgan, plus two conversions by Griffiths – and although prop James Holmes grabbed a late consolation try for the Dairy Men it was Narberth who were good value for victory.

Division One West
Llangennech 32-31 Whitland
Whitland played superbly at Llangennech against a team sitting in fourth place in the table but their hopes of a third success from seven starts were ruined as home centre Rhys Davies sliced through for a last-ditch try that earned his team a rather fortuitous win by the odd point in 63!
The Borderers started well as outside half Nico Setaro kicked a penalty either side of a good try by hooker Marc Jones which Setaro converted – and they were good value for a 13-0 lead before Llangennech finally opened their account with a penalty from Kieran Thomas and an unconverted try by flanker Rhodri Phillips.
Pacy winger Sean Coles raced over for a Whitland five-pointer and although the home side had two penalties by Ritchie Cunningham a third successful Setaro penalty gave his side a 21-14 interval lead.
Cunningham slotted an early second half penalty but Setaro’s excellent try and conversion kept the Borderers looking good but home hooker Andrew Green scored a try alongside the conversion and another Cunningham penalty to reduce the deficit to a single point.
Setaro landed another Whitland penalty late on but there was still just enough time for Llangennech to snatch victory with a try by centre Rhys Davies and the Borderers had to settle for a solitary bonus point when their efforts deserved so much more!

Tenby 15-33 Dunvant
Tenby United found it hard going against table-topping Dunvant, who are eager to return to return to their former glory days, and established an early 13-3 lead which they were able to build on, despite the efforts of the Seasiders.
The visitors grabbed two unconverted tries by centre Rhodri Wall and flanker Josh Morgan from a driving maul, with outside half James Davies contributing a penalty before home pivot Tom Lewis added a penalty to open the Seasiders’ account.
Davies also featured in the second period as he kicked a penalty and then helped create a try for second row Lewis Buckley before Toby Smith’s play for Tenby was rewarded with a try converted by Lewis.
Dan Colley also played well at full back but the Seasiders were forced to concede another Davies penalty and try by Dunvant skipper Mitchell Ford – and although open side flanker Andrew Cook responded with a late Tenby try it was Dunvant who showed why they lead the section as they returned home with maximum bonus points.

Crymych v Waunarlwydd - postponed
Heavy overnight rain at Parc Lloyd Thomas made for heavy going and the efforts of the Crymych ground staff early on Saturday morning were negated as further rain swept in over the Preselis to leave Crymych with no option but to postpone their game with Waunarlwydd!

Division Two West
Aberystwyth 33-19 Fishguard & Goodwick

Fishguard and Goodwick made the long journey to Aberystwyth to try and lower the colours of the league leaders but, hard as they tried, it was Aber who maintained their 100% record despite all Huw Evans’ teams’ efforts.
The Seagulls got off to a disappointing start and were soon 15 points adrift as home fly half Jason Rees slotted a penalty and then converted a nicely-conceived try by winger Adam Carvell before lively flanker Paul Stubbs crossed for an unconverted score.
Fishguard opened their account with a quality try from centre Mike Jenkins but Rees remained involved for Aber as he landed a penalty and then sliced through for a try – and then notched another three points to help his side to a 26-5 interval lead.
Things got worse for the visitors as Gethin Davies added Aber’s fourth try to ensure a bonus point but the Seagulls kept battling on and they were rewarded with a try by James Griffiths and a second for centre Jenkins, both converted by Griffiths, but it was a case of too little, too late as Aber shut up shop to secure the spoils, and leave Fishguard with nothing to show for a lot of effort!

Division Three West
Haverfordwest 15-0 Pembroke Dock Harlequins

With Milford Haven not having a match, Haverfordwest bounced back to the top of the table as a result of their hard-fought win over third-placed Pembroke Dock Harlequins at Merlins Bridge.
The Blues built up a 15-0 lead at the interval and the second half remained scoreless as both teams missed half chances and sometimes the Quins tried to over-use ‘Danger Men’ Damian Miller at full back and Jack Price in the centre.
Mikey Jones gave the Blues the lead with a well-struck penalty before second row Mikey Griffiths chipped in with an unconverted try.
Then all-action flanker Dan John powered his way through some Quins defenders to record their second try, this time goaled by Jones, and from there it was plenty of action in a game regularly punctuated by the referee’s whistle – but with no further points.
It meant a fifth win in six outings for Haverfordwest, who must have been delighted that they had done what few other sides will do this campaign – that is to keep the Quins from recording a single point!

Llangwm 9-68 Neyland
Neyland’s talented young outside half Patrick Bellerby will certainly remember this win at Pill Parks against a Llangwm side which as usual, gave 100% but had little answer to Bellerby’s control of the action as his pack gained the ascendancy and provided him with plenty of quality possession to utilise.
Known to his team mates as ‘Paddy’ he ghosted through for five tries and notched nine out of ten possible conversions, with other tries coming from veteran centres Mark Riley and Adam Collins (2), full back Johnnie Lloyd and replacement flanker Iestyn Evans.
The Wasps had two first-half penalties by Luke Brock as they trailed 28-6, with a third penalty coming soon after the restart as flanker Rhys Cooper played well and Ollie Hughes made a good debut as he played centre and then scrum half.
But in the final analysis it was Neyland who had the ‘big guns’ as they were good value for a second success of the season – whilst The Wasps are still seeking a first league point after their first six matches.

St Clears 22-20 Cardigan
The form book suggested a win for Cardigan at St Clears but someone forgot to tell the Carmarthenshire Saints as they battled hard to stay in contention throughout and claimed the win points with a late score.
Full back Alun Jenkins and centre Rhydian Jenkins scored Cardigan’s tries whilst outside half Iestyn Crompton was on target with both conversions and two penalties – but St Clears were always ready to pounce on mistakes and they cost The Teifisiders dearly in the final analysis.
Inside centre Liam Price grabbed a good try alongside veteran winger Ceri Jones, whilst the even more experienced back rower Andy Deacon, playing second row to help his younger colleagues, also ploughed over the whitewash as reward for his total commitment.
Full back Luke Conbeer and Price chipped in with a conversion apiece whilst Conbeer also slotted a penalty that helped his side move up the table and keep Cardigan pinned just outside the top three.

St Davids v Laugharne - postponed
With both teams having special events within their clubs it was postponed by mutual consent

Pembroke v Milford Haven - postponed

Pembroke coach Geraint Lewis confirmed that he had three players in plaster, skipper Max Hayward damaged an eye socket in training, several were ill and others were working on the ‘shut down’ so the club had no option but to call the game off – but had apologised to Milford haven for the inconvenience.
