Llandudno 1

Haverfordwest County 0

Once again the Bluebirds can look back on a performance that was spirited and skilful but once again yielded nothing by way of goals or points.

The home side started brightly and their striker Lewis Buckley tested Craig Morris a few times, once with a shot form the halfway line, but Morris coped easily. But as the half wore on the Blues got more and more into the game. Sam Rodon was outstanding in defence and Kieran Howard very strong in midfield, but as so often recently it was the final shot which proved the problem. Jordan Follows twice failed to convert when through in a one-on-one with keeper Roberts and Luke Borrelli missed another chance. Howard’s well hit volley was well saved low down by Roberts.

It was a goal on the stroke of half-time which gave Tudno their half-time lead, as Leo Riley curled in a free kick from the edge of the area.

The Bluebirds attacked regularly in the second half, trying substitutions up front as Craig Moses and John Roberts replaced Follows and Borelli. But they could not squeeze out the equalizer which their approach play merited, and the game ended with a Spencer Williams shot whistling just over after a corner, and Llandudno resorting to a rather farcical 94th minute substitution.

Two real positives which the Blue could take away with them were the displays of Craig Morris, immaculate in goal, and left back Spencer Williams who seem to be gaining in confidence now with each game he plays.

The Blues now look back on a run of 5 games without a win, although nearly all were against top-six opposition. They will be looking to end the drought, of goals and points, when they play at home to Rhyl next Saturday.
