THE mixed super veterans crew from Fishguard and Goodwick Jemima Rowing Club have been declared winners in their category of the 2015 Welsh Sea Rowing league.

The Welsh Sea Rowing Association has a North, South and joint Wales league and the Fishguard crew came first in the South league, for the third consecutive year and also won the joint league.

The crew received their awards from the WSRA in Aberystwyth and were also presented with commemorative plaques by Tony Davies, Commodore of Fishguard Yacht Club.

Tony Davies said: “This is a unique achievement bringing great distinction to the Club and the wider community of Fishguard and Goodwick. The consistently high standard of rowing attained by the crew over the full rowing season has been achieved by many hours of training in all weather conditions. They are to be congratulated for their commitment and competitive spirit. The Club is immensely proud of them.”

Candy Tamsett, Jemima Rowing Club Chair said: “We’re obviously delighted to have won both categories and are already training for this year’s races hoping we can be successful again. Our men’s team have also been training hard throughout the winter and we hope they can bring another award to the club this year. Although we have some competitive teams, there are plenty of members who just enjoy being on the water, getting some light exercise in the fresh air and the club will always welcome anyone who wants to give it a go.”

Fishguard and Goodwick Jemima Rowing Club welcomes new members so if anyone is interested in rowing either competitively, for exercise or just as a social activity see Fishguard and Goodwick Jemima Rowing Club on Facebook or Twitter; @FishguardRowing or contact Rick Mabey on 07785 953251 or rickmabey@btinternet.com for more information.
