There are 97 entries for the Carmarthenshire and Tivyside Point to Point at Lydstep this Sunday, the third and final meeting of the season at the course. First race is off at 2pm, writes Maria Evans.

That race is the Hunt Members, where there are 6 entered. It could be a wide open race, with any one of the entries in with a chance. Ex Debbie Hamer inmate Grovemere could make his Point to Point debut, after winning a charity race at Ffos Las last year, under new owner Callum Griffiths. Qalinas has run into some decent horses so far this season, and is one that could take the top spot.

Next on the card is the Maiden Conditions Race, where 15 have been entered. St Merryn and Last of the Buds, both trained by Beverley Thomas, have been among the places so far this season, and could be thereabouts once again. Ann Scott, for inform trainer David Gibbs cannot be ignored, and neither can Master Eleanor and Pink Eyed Pedro.

The Mixed Open race at this meeting is run over 2 miles and 4 furlongs, and so will be an advantage for those who find 3 miles a bit tough. Up For An Oscar will be one to watch, with a Point to Point debut possible, after a switch from Peter Bowen’s yard to son Mikey’s. He also has Cygnet entered. Macarthur is another who could make a Point to Point debut for Dai Rees. Rosie’s Peacock, Doctor Braveheart and See U Again Son, who is entered for the Dunraven Bowl at Chepstow this Friday, are also entered.

There are 15 entered for the Veteran Horse and Novice Riders race. Grovemere, Cygnet and Up For An Oscar have entries here too, as well as Heavenstown for novice jockey Lorcan Williams, Good Grammar for Sioned Whittle, and Dotties Dilema for Simon Morgan. This race gives novice riders a brilliant chance to get their first or second winner on the board.

The Open Maiden Race sees 13 entered. Mountain Of Angels has gone close a couple of times this season, and is close to dropping his maiden tag. Pink Eyed Pedro and St Merryn also have entries. Tinkers Hill Tommy ran a good race at the Monmouthshire Hunt meeting last weekend, and Glenteeneasigh is another one close to winning a first race.

The Restricted Race sees the biggest number of entries for the day, with 18. Indian Leader was a winner at the Monmouthshire Point to Point last weekend, and holds an entry for the Dunraven Bowl this Friday. Colorado Doc won on his seasonal debut at Cothlestone last month, Full Print has a good record at Lydstep having won, and come second here so far this season, and Truegazer will be hoping to improve on a disappointing run last time out, after a promising start to the season.

The final race of the day, the West Wales Area Conditions Race, is run over 3 miles 4 furlongs, and can become a real test of stamina for the amateurs. Boyfromnowhere has some history of stamina tests when with trainer Becky Curtis, and should go well in this race. Gullible Gordon, Mumbles Pier and Dunraven Royal are others that could go well.
