TWO-time British Rally Champion Dai Llewellin is set to race in the third and fourth rounds of the MSA British Rallycross Championship at Pembrey Circuit, Llanelli, this weekend.
Llewellin will compete in the RX150 buggy category at the double-header event, joined by his son Ben, who is a two-time British Champion professional clay shooter, and competent rally driver.
Both Llewellin’s tested the buggies at Pembrey recently. “The buggy was awesome. It makes you smile, it’s bloody quick and that’s what gives you adrenalin. You’ve got the sweat on your forehead and the smile on your face – that basically says it all,” said Dai. “In rallying we’re on our own [in a stage], so the racing will be the most difficult part for me. I can drive the buggy and the gravel parts suit me great, so I think it’s just the race craft that I’ll have to work on. It will be really fun to race against Ben, but I’ve told him if he beats me, he can walk home!”
Racing at Pembrey takes place on this Sunday, May 1 and Bank Holiday Monday, May 2, with the headline Supercar category cars racing eight at a time, boasting 600 bhp and accelerating from 0-60 mph in just two seconds. Find out more at www.pembreycircuit.co.uk and www.rallycrossbrx.com
