Wynne Lloyd Memorial Youth Cup final:
Pembrokeshire 27
Bridgend County 17

Pembrokeshire District Youth beat Bridgend County Youth at Cardiff Arms Park in the Wynne Lloyd Memorial Youth Cup final on Wednesday night.

Pembrokeshire progressed through the pool stages as best runner up and in the semi final, beat West Carmarthenshire 24-11 to advance to the cup final for the third consecutive year, having lost the previous two to Caerphilly.

In a high tempo game on the 3G pitch at Cardiff, Pembrokeshire got into their stride when No 8 Kyle Williams picked up from a scrum and fed scrum half Lewys Gibby, who beat the cover defence and score out wide. Jake Jenkins added the excellent conversion.

Jenkins then added a simple penalty to make it 10-0.

Pembrokeshire continued to dominate and forwards Ryan Bean and Kyle Williams made good ground before finding Gibby who outpaced the Bridgend the fullback to make it 15-0.

Bridgend started well in second half though, and several pick and drives by the forwards saw them cross the line. Moments later, a good rolling maul reduced the deficit to 15-10.

A try saving tackle from centre Jack Parkinson then kept Pembrokeshire ahead, before captain Gibby crossed for his hat-trick, and Jenkins added the extras.

With 10 minutes left, Pembrokeshire went down to 14 when flanker Harry Owen was sin-binned. Bridgend took advantage as their centre crashed for a converted try to make it 22-17 with five minutes left.

But Pembs sealed glory late on as Parkinson shrugged off a tackle and seared over to round off a fantastic display from the squad.
