Cresselly (188 for 1) beat Haverfordwest (184 all out) by 9 wickets

A SUPERB century from Iwan Izzard ensured Cresselly leapfrogged Haverfordwest into second place in the table as they completed a difficult run chase with consummate ease.

Izzard smashed 19 fours and four sixes on his way to 129 not out, helping his side to pass The Town’s total of 184 all out in just the 26th over.

After being put into bat, a number the Haverfordwest top order batsmen were guilty of not pressing on after getting starts, as Simon Holliday (15), Gareth Davies (13), skipper Danny Potter (23), Dan Cole (two fours and two sixes in his 33), and Nitin Mathias (15) all fell when looking well placed.

In the end, The Town were left indebted to an eighth wicket stand of 47 from Nigel Delaney and Adeel Khan, who came together with the score at 127 for 7, with Delaney top scoring on 41 not out (three fours and a six) and Khan making 25 (three fours and a six).

Cresselly kept on top with wickets for Sion Jenkins (2 for 30), Sam Harts (1 for 27), Tom Arthur (1 for 55), Ryan Lewis (1 for 55) and Mike Shaw, whose two eventful overs saw him claim 3 for 13.

However, the home side’s reply then got off to the worst possible start when Adam James (1 for 41) had Adam Chandler caught behind by Huw Scriven for a diamond duck but that only served to bring Izzard to the crease, and he was supported in his brutal 74-ball knock by Phil Williams, who struck nine boundaries en route to 47 not out.

And the pair eased Cresselly home to keep them in touch with Neyland at the top, while Haverfordwest’s title hopes take another blow after their first loss of the season to Carew last week.

Narberth (51 all out) lost to Whitland (261 for 7) by 210 runs

WHITLAND produced arguably their best all-round display of the season as they comprehensively beat local rivals Narberth at the Lewis Lloyd Ground.

The home side piled on 261 for 7, with opener Dylan Blain setting the tone with a classy 62 (six fours), before Geraint Jones gave the innings real impetus with seven fours and six sixes in his 73.

Skipper Iestyn Scourfield hit 31 not out, while Paul Davies (28) and Will Spreadbury (25) all helped post a daunting total, despite the efforts of Jordan Howell (3 for 74), Ben Hughes (2 for 67) and captain Ben Quartermaine (2 for 58).

It was Wayne Howells who then ensured a huge Whitland win with 7 for 33 against his old team mates, while Scourfield helped complete the job with 3 for 15.

For the well beaten visitors, only Kyle Quartermaine (19 not out) ever threatened to make any kind of impact with the bat in a disappointing display.

Lawrenny (295 for 5) beat Carew (159 all out) by 136 runs

STEVE Lewis was the toast of his Lawrenny colleagues as his innings of 110 helped his team to a massive total against Carew – before an inspired bowling spell from Alistair Edwards secured a 30-point win for the home side.

Lewis’ knock included 15 fours and five sixes, and there was no let up for the visitors as Harry Thomas (six fours and a six in his 51) and Simon Cole (five fours and a six in his 47) also excelled – before a typical late assault from Brad McDermott-Jenkins, who hit six fours and three sixes on his way to 47 not out, secured Lawrenny their biggest score of the season.

For Carew, Tom Davies (3 for 50), Rhys Davies (1 for 65) and Shaun Whitfield (1 for 18) took the wickets.

Brian Hall (six fours in his 32) top scored in the visitors’ reply, but although Tom Davies made 22 (three fours) and Whitfield (25, including three fours) also chipped in, they never looked like getting close as Edwards (4 for 32), Rob Williams (3 for 24), and Harry Thomas (2 for 27) did the damage for Lawrenny, with Jamie Lewis taking the other wicket to fall.

Llanrhian (35 all out) lost to St Ishmaels (246 for 6) by 211 runs

AN incredible bowling spell of eight wickets for six runs in 6.4 overs from Andrew Palmer helped Tish to a much-needed win as they hammered rock bottom side Llanrhian.

Earlier on the visitors had posted a healthy 246 for 6, as opener Daniel Richards set things up with ten fours and two sixes in his 79, and his good work was continued by Phil Cockburn, who struck seven fours and a six en route to 71 not out.

Danny Howells (22), Andrew Williams (18) and Brennan Devonald (a four and two sixes in his 27 not out) also chipped in – while Llanrhian’s reward for plugging away in the field earned wickets for Mathew Bennett (2 for 39), Sam Kurtz (2 for 75), Jack Jones (1 for 48) and Rob John (1 for 76).

But the home side’s reply then lasted just 13.4 overs, with only Kurtz (12) reaching double figures courtesy of three boundaries.

Palmer’s devastating spell resulted in six ducks for the home side, five of them in the top order, while Dean John (2 for 29) finished the job off.

The win eases St Ishmaels’ relegation fears, but a return to Division Two now seems inevitable for Llanrhian.

Neyland (166 for 2) beat Johnston (162 all out) by 8 wickets

A CLASSY knock of 94 from opener Nick Koomen eased league leaders Neyland to a win over Johnston and kept Sean Hannon’s side on course as favourites to regain the title they last won in 2014.

The Johnston total of 162 all out appeared light of what the visitors needed, and their innings owed much to Steve Mills as he hammered ten fours in his 57.

But although Dan Sutton made 24 (four fours), Mike Jones 17 (two fours) and Leigh Summons 17 (three fours) as lesser contributions, Mills lacked the support he needed at the other end – and Andrew Miller’s intelligent bowling yielded figures of 4 for 32, with other wickets for Henry Durrant (1 for 45), Patrick Hannon (1 for 50), Gary Lloyd (1 for 6) and Geraint Rees (2 for 2).

Gary Davis (1 for 26) gave Johnston brief hope when he removed Patrick Bellerby (18), but then Ashley Sutton joined Koomen in a century partnership to effectively end matters, with the latter hitting 16 fours before  falling just six short of a century, dismissed by Richard Davies (1 for 24).

Sutton finished on 38 not out (three fours), and was joined by Miller (4 not out) as Neyland cruised to victory with overs aplenty to spare.

Umpires: Richard Merriman and Neil Croucher.

Scorers: Natalie Thomas and John Laugharne.
