CRESSELLY batsman Adam Chandler has been rewarded for his phenomenal form during the 2016 season by winning the prestigious George Cole trophy.

The award, named after the late former President of Pembroke County Cricket Club (PCCC), is presented each season to the most consistent performer in the county.

The opener scored an amazing 862 runs over 16 innings in Division One this season, at an average of 78.36.

His tally included six fifties, and three centuries, with a best score of 144 not out against Johnston at Glebelands on August 20.

He also made 123 not out against the same opposition earlier in the season, and hit the same score against St Ishmaels on the opening day.

He also shone in a thrilling Harrison Allen Bowl final against Haverfordwest, where his knock of 80 in the second innings took Cresselly so close to victory before they were edged out by five runs.

Chandler, who succeeded 2015 winner Simon Holliday, received the George Cole Cup from PCCC President David Morris, and Chairman Tony Scourfield.
