FORMER Pembrokeshire players Rob Evans and James 'cubby' Davies played their part in an historic Scarlets win last night as the region became the first side to win away in a Pro12 play off semi final.

The Scarlets prevailed 27-15 at the RDS in Dublin, setting up a final against the winner of Munster and Ospreys tonight.

The visitors led 21-10 at half time with tries from winger Steffan Evans, flanker Aaron Shingler, and scrum half Gareth Davies, all converted by fly half Rhys Patchell.

The Irish side had a try from centre Garry Ringrose and five points from the boot of Isa Nacewa - but the contest took a major twist before the break when Scarlets winger Evans was controversially sent off for a dangerous tackle.

But the prompted a magnificent rearguard effort from Wayne Pivac's men in the second half, before their lead was cut to six points through a try from Leinster No 8 Jack Conan.

But two late penalties from Liam Williams secured a historic win for the Welsh side.

Prop Evans was again outstanding for the Scarlets before being replaced on the hour mark, whilst Davies was announced the man of the match after a display that saw him also fill in on the wing when his team went down to 14 men.

And his performance immediately had pundits and fans alike questioning his omission from Wales' summer tour.

Munster and Ospreys play in the second semi final tonight at Thormond Park, 6.15pm kick off - with the final taking place next Saturday, May 27, 6.15pm at the Aviva Stadium.
