Pembrokeshire Indoor Cricket League week two:

THERE was only one of the three scheduled matches played on Sunday as Lawrenny failed to turn up and didn’t tell organiser Peter Davies, who umpired alongside Neil Croucher in the game between Haverfordwest and Neyland B.

In the final analysis, terrific performances by club captain Danny Potter and Simon Holliday, assisted by a massive 52 runs from ‘Mr Extras’ saw them win by 154 runs.

Potter blitzed five sixes and six fours in his undefeated 67 and Holliday claimed a hat-trick as Gavin Rowlands (25) was the only Neyland batsmen to score big.

This was after Johnny White trapped George Evans for a duck in the first over and then Holliday bowled Ben Mathias-Milsom, took a return catch to shift Lewis Page and bowled Ben Fairburn; all in a maiden over!
Holliday also contributed 32 with the bat alongside a useful 24 by opener Nikhil Mathias as George Evans was the pick of the Neyland bowlers with a 3 for 41 haul, assisted by a superb catch by wicket-keeper Rowlands that removed Kieran O’Connor.

Jamie Smith also picked up a wicket for Neyland but when they batted they were facing a massive challenge – and perhaps inevitably caved in under the pressure!
